Our Taipei based Museum of World Religions
(www.mwr.org.tw)
inspired me to launch the “Global Family of Love and Peace”
an NGO with the mission of world-wide Interfaith dialogue, meditation
and peace work. As we embarked on this mission, we realized
soon enough that if our heart is not at peace, this world cannot
be at peace either. But how do we arrive at peace of heart?
We have to start from practicing concentration, which leads
to inner stability and stillness. Once we tap into the well-spring
of love and compassion that flows from a heart that is at peace,
we are truly ready to engage ourselves in peace-work in the
world.
We promote Chan meditation around the world in the hope that
this will help people walk on the path leading to peace of
heart. We only have this one Earth, this home that we all
share. We are all members of one global family, and we all
rely on each of its members to protect this world and every
life on it.
Discovering our heart, the core of our being, is the most
precious event in our life, the priceless pearl. Therefore
I invite each and everyone of you to walk on this path of
the heart together. Let us find the fullness of our heart
and experience the sacredness of all life. But how can we
find our heart? How can we walk on this path of the heart?
It starts from the practice of meditation. Try to sit at least
15 minutes in meditation every morning and evening, or 30
minutes or even one hour if possible. In addition to your
Chan practice in daily life, concentrate well on your work,
on everything that is at hand. Concentration helps us to become
focused and to settle down. When we are fully concentrated
we can enjoy the sound of no sound, and taste true peace of
heart.
